Three rules for a name that works
- Two or three syllables - short names are easiest for dogs and cats to recognise as their own; if you pick a long name, decide the everyday short form first
- No clash with commands or family names - names that sound like "wait" or "no" in your language confuse training
- A name you can still call in 10 years - the vet's waiting room test: would you be comfortable hearing it called out?
